Instructor Training – PART 1 TEST – THEORY AND HAZARD PERCEPTION

You are allowed as many attempts as needed to pass the part one, but the part two and three are restricted to three attempts only, so quality training is a necessity and good solid practice by the candidate is required.

The exam costs £90.00 paid directly to the Driving Standards Agency. The test takes 1hr 30 minutes and comprises of 100 multiple choice questions on a variety of driving and instructional topics. The 100 questions are split into four bands. There is a choice of four answers to each question, one of which is the correct answer. In order to pass the theory part successfully you need to score 20 or above in each section.

The overall score you need to pass the theory is 85 or above.

In the next part of this test you will be shown 14 video clips of hazards about to develop on the road whilst driving. You will be required to click the mouse button as soon as you see the hazard. To pass this section you need to score 57 or above. Each clip has a possible 5 points.

Waiting time for this test at present is 2-3 weeks. You will take this test at a test centre local to you. If you are unable to take the test during the week due to work commitments then you can take the test on a Saturday.

At Quail’s Instructor Training College we will allocate you a personal tutor to help you with your studies and go through any questions you may have. You will also be supplied with all of the books, theory questions and a relevant DVD which incorporates the Hazard Perception part of the exam. These materials are essential to passing this exam and are included in the price of the course.

All your training is on a one to one basis with the same tutor unlike other training establishments!

We also have an office available Mon-Fri 10am-5pm and Saturday 9am-3pm if you need a computer to practice the part one test.
